The Monthly Illuminator: Concentrate Care and Tallac

And here we are again ... the days are getting shorter and the nights are getting longer. It's that time of year when the air gets crisp, the leaves are falling, and you just want to smoke a joint and soak up the last of the sunshine before things go dark for the winter.

This month we are taking a lighter approach to the blog article with a quick read about caring for your concentrates.

And perfect for the fall season, our Featured Flower this month is Tallac. This beauty is perfect anywhere, but is particularly lovely to enjoy in the great outdoors - when you feel the magic of time shifting and the wheel turning as the day fades into night.

KEEP YOUR COOL: HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR CONCENTRATES

IC Collective concentrates are produced with the utmost care, and state of the art manufacturing process. We take extra steps to preserve and protect the cannabis throughout.  Our plants are harvested at optimal ripeness and meticulously broken down to remove any non-cannabinoid containing material.

We keep it cold: Our hydrocarbon procedure uses a revolutionary chilling system to process at unparalleled speeds and temperature, creating some of the purest hash possible. Our rosin procedure takes place in a custom-made room, ensuring that the trichomes are never exposed to heat, preserving strain-specific flavors and psychoactive properties.

All IC concentrates are frozen, except during the packaging process, and they’re then immediately re-frozen. They are even transported in refrigerated vans. It’s optimal to buy our concentrates from stores that use refrigeration, but in lieu of that, you can introduce yours to the freezer as soon as you get them home.

When properly stored and cared for, concentrates can last up to a year, and even longer, if kept frozen. Here’s how the pros do it:

  • Label your concentrates with strain and date.

  • Well-sealed glass containers are the optimal storage format, preventing moisture and oxidation.

  • Larger amounts keep better - if you’re saving that tiny little bit, we get it - but larger amounts tend to hold up better over time.

  • Limit your concentrates’ exposure to heat. Get them into the fridge, if you’re going to use the full amount right away, or the freezer, if you’re planning to hold on to them for a while. This ensures freshness and flavor.

  • You can defrost your concentrates and bring them up to room temperature for ease of handling and portioning, but you can consume them straight from the freezer just as well.

  • It’s ideal to store and keep your concentrate containers upright.

So store yours with care, keep your cool, and enjoy!

Mount Tallac is a mountain peak found in Northern California, southwest of Lake Tahoe. It is known for the stunning views of Lake Tahoe, and is a popular destination for hiking and backcountry skiing. The word Tallac comes from the Washo native language word "daláʔak," meaning 'big mountain.'

IC Collective took a true California OG variety and crossed it with the legendary Sour D, creating a new and completely different look compared to its parents. The flower growth is a strong, towering structure with a velvety wet appearance and a sap-like feel. With hues of purple and its majestic stance, it reminds us of those special days in the mountains when the light is fading and pleasant hues of pink and purple fill the sky; everything feels perfect.  Mt Tallac is the beacon to get you home.

Tallac is a hardy plant that grows a classic and perfectly dense bud. When being harvested, it gives off a sweet and funky aroma, and the dried flowers are easy to work with. Overall - the plant is a pleasure to work with.

Tallac is currently available in Eighths and Half Ounces. For our concentrate lovers, be on the lookout for live rosin, which will be coming out soon.
